Setting up a new business is challenging, with many difficult decisions to make.
Choosing to donate a percentage of my turnover to St Mungo's was not a difficult decision. Starting a business allows you to represent your values through your business.
Rough sleeping has increased 120% since 2010 and 27% in the last year alone.
St Mungo's have been working to end homelessness and rebuild lives for over 50 years. They're
on the streets meeting people sleeping rough, day and night. They run hostels and emergency accommodation, giving people the time and space they need to recover. And they're here for the long haul, helping people to learn new skills, find jobs and reconnect. This work means that every night, more than 2,700 people have somewhere safe to stay.
And importantly to me, they understand that pets are family. They recognise that pets can be a lifeline for someone experiencing homelessness. That’s why they offer pet friendly accommodation.
By supporting St Mungo's, you and I could help save two lives
And financial education helps them rebuild their lives. Helping people who have experienced homelessness to gain skills and develop their employability is a fundamental part of St Mungo's aims. For individuals experiencing homelessness, financial literacy can provide the necessary tools to manage and stabilise their finances, reducing the risk of repeated financial crises. Direct Debit knowledge can facilitate timely bill payments, helping individuals maintain essential services like housing and utilities.
